After nearly 15 years of silence, Peter Jackson has officially confirmed that a sequel to The Adventures of Tintin is being written, reigniting excitement among fans of the iconic young reporter.

For years, fans believed The Adventures of Tintin sequel had quietly disappeared into development limbo. Now, after nearly 15 years of uncertainty, acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson has finally delivered the update audiences were waiting for. Speaking during the Cannes Film Festival, where he received an honorary Palme d’Or, Jackson confirmed that work on the sequel is actively underway.
According to reports, the director revealed that he is currently writing the screenplay and still intends to direct the project himself.

The original The Adventures of Tintin released in 2011 under the direction of Steven Spielberg and quickly became one of the most visually ambitious animated adventure films of its time. Using advanced motion-capture technology, the movie brought Hergé’s legendary comicbook world to life with cinematic scale, thrilling action sequences and memorable characters like Tintin, Captain Haddock and Snowy.

Despite receiving strong reviews and earning over $374 million worldwide, the sequel remained stuck in uncertainty for over a decade. Multiple reports surfaced over the years, but no concrete progress was ever publicly confirmed, until now.
Peter Jackson’s recent statement has instantly revived fan excitement across the internet. Longtime Tintin readers and movie lovers are especially eager to see the return of Jamie Bell as Tintin and Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, both of whom are expected to reprise their roles if the project moves into full production.

While no release date or official storyline has been announced yet, speculation suggests the sequel could adapt beloved Tintin adventures such as “The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun”. These stories are among the most popular in the franchise and would perfectly suit the globe trotting adventure tone established by the first film.
The timing also feels right. In an era dominated by superhero franchises and nostalgic revivals, Tintin still stands apart as a pure adventure icon, a fearless reporter solving mysteries across the world with intelligence, courage and curiosity.

For comics and animation fans, this announcement is more than just sequel news. It marks the possible return of one of the finest modern comic book adaptations ever made.
Now the biggest question remains – how long will fans have to wait before Tintin rides back onto the big screen once again? Well lets wait & watch and revist some Tintin comics till that time! Cheers – Comics Byte!!
