Marvel Phase 5 Wrap-Up: Hits, Misses & Comic Byte’s Top Picks
![]()
Deadpool, Loki, X-Men ’97 — the only real winners of MCU Phase 5!
The curtains have officially closed on Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 with the release of Ironheart. Spanning two years and 16 titles, Phase 5 began with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and concluded with a mixed bag of series and films, some memorable, some forgettable.

While Marvel had big hopes, this phase proved to be one of the most critically mixed in the franchise’s history. From multiverse chaos to mutant returns, the content kept flowing but the fan buzz? Not so much.
🔥 Comic Byte’s Top 3 Picks from Phase 5

After tracking reactions, reviews and fandom hype, Comic Byte’s top 3 standout projects from Phase 5 are:
- Deadpool & Wolverine
The multiverse meets madness in this chaotic, nostalgic and wildly awaited return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The real Phase 5 savior. - Loki – Season 2
A solid follow-up to the Time Variance Authority saga. Tom Hiddleston shines again in this layered, visually striking and emotionally heavy series. - X-Men ’97
The animated comeback of Marvel’s mutant legends was a surprise hit. Sharp storytelling, bold choices, and true 90’s flavor – this show won hearts.

👎 The Flops & Fizzles
Unfortunately, many Phase 5 projects didn’t live up to the hype.
- The Marvels failed to strike a chord despite big stakes.
- Quantumania, though visually wild, was narratively weak.
- Secret Invasion under delivered despite Samuel L. Jackson’s (Nick Fury’s) presence.
Fan fatigue, writing issues, and over saturation were evident throughout.
🌟 Notable Mentions

- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: A heartfelt farewell with strong emotions, great music and Rocket’s backstory that stole the show. James Gunn delivered it again.
- Daredevil: Born Again: The buzz around Matt Murdock’s return keeps fans curious but not able to live up to the hype.
- Thunderbolts*: Check our review!
