Marvel’s Black Widow Returns to the Red Room in New Black, White & Red Series
Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova and the Red Room return in Marvel’s new four-issue series Black Widow: Black, White & Red Room, arriving December 2026.
Marvel Comics is returning to one of its most distinctive comic book formats with Black Widow: Black, White & Red Room, a new four-issue limited series arriving in December 2026. The series brings together Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova and the mysterious legacy of the Red Room, with each issue telling three different stories.
The concept expands on Marvel’s Black, White & Blood format, using the stark visual combination of black, white and red for a collection of spy, assassin and Red Room stories. Each issue will feature one story focused on Natasha/Black Widow, another on Yelena/White Widow, while the third explores the wider world of the Red Room and the characters shaped by it.
Black Widow, White Widow and Daredevil
The first issue brings together an especially interesting creative combination. Stephanie Phillips and Giuseppe Camuncoli will tell Natasha’s story, while Devin Grayson and J.G. Jones return to Yelena Belova for a story that also features Daredevil. Grayson and Jones have a particularly strong connection to the character, having helped introduce Yelena more than two decades ago.
The third story moves beyond Natasha and Yelena, focusing on Nadia Van Dyne, the Unstoppable Wasp, and her escape from the Red Room. It is written by Jeremy Whitley with art by Bradley Clayton. Later issues will also feature creators including Peach Momoko and Sam Humphries, with Marvel promising more names and stories as the series develops.
A deeper look at Marvel’s Red Room
What makes this series interesting is that Marvel isn’t treating the Red Room simply as background mythology for Black Widow. By giving the organization and the people connected to it their own stories, the series can explore different sides of the world that produced Natasha, Yelena and other characters.
Black Widow: Black, White & Red Room #1 will feature writing by Stephanie Phillips, Devin Grayson and Jeremy Whitley, with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli, J.G. Jones and Bradley Clayton. The main cover is by Ito, whose artwork is featured in Marvel’s announcement. The first issue is scheduled to arrive on December 16, 2026, with the series planned for four issues.
