Patil School of Design (DPU), Pune, which aims to put Indian comics on the global map through this remarkable project.

The Grand Inauguration, DPU Team and Their Vision Behind the Initiative

The historic event was officially inaugurated by Ajitesh Sharma, President of the Indian Comics Association (ICA), alongside Anadi Abhilash, Honorary General Secretary of ICA and Mainak Banerjee, Founder of Comics Byte. Their presence marked a significant moment in India’s comic book industry, as they extended their support to this record breaking artistic endeavor.

Past Records & The Future of Indian Comics

The largest comic strip record currently belongs to Adidas Japan K.K. and Sky Comic Project Team, who created a comic strip measuring 3,785.35 m² in 2010. The March 2025 event aims to surpass this record, placing India at the forefront of global comic book achievements.

With Indian comics witnessing a resurgence through independent publishers, web comics and large scale projects like this, the event reinforces India’s contribution to the global comic book industry.

The event will culminate on March 17, 2025, with a special ceremony attended by Preeti Vyas, President & CEO of Amar Chitra Katha. Her presence highlights the rich legacy of Indian comics and their evolving role in modern storytelling.
