WAVES Comics Creator Championship Semi-Finalists Announced!!
In continuation of our previous coverage on the WAVES Comics Creator Championship, we are thrilled to announce that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), in collaboration with the Indian Comics Association (ICA), has revealed the 76 semi-finalists of this prestigious competition. This announcement, made on the occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day, underscores the nation’s vibrant comic culture and the immense talent spread across its length and breadth.
A wide range of innovators from 50 localities in 20 states and the National Capital Region are represented among the semi-finalists. Participants come from small towns like Anand, Betul, Kalka, and Samastipur in addition to larger cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. Cities from the Northeast, such as Guwahati and Imphal, are notably represented, underscoring the championship’s broad appeal and participation.
There are 30 professionals and 40 amateur creators among the chosen semi-finalists, who range in age from 10 to 49. Six young artists received special mentions as well, demonstrating the championship’s dedication to developing talent at all levels. A number of well-known artists from the Indian comics industry are among the semi-finalists. A thrilling conclusion is promised by both seasoned pros and up-and-coming talent, according to the official press release.
